Mix: #070108
This mix starts off very electro and kind of chills down to some mellow Progressive House at the end. One of my new favorites tracks is in this mix Let’s Take Drugs. The sample editing on that track is absolutely amazing (stay tuned for a full review).

Review: Josh Wink: Higher State Of Consciousness (Original Mix)

| Comment: | Oh yeah this is a classic from the 90s. Higher State of Consciousness is a great song and has long been a favorite. Though I dont find it particularly useful in the music I like to mix, for some reason I just really like it. It starts off with a kick, snare, kick snare medium beat. At 0:30 were introduced to one of the main elements of this track, the ‘higher state of conciousness’ voice and at 1:00 were introduced to the other main element of this track, the acid-electro bassline. The introduction of the bassline also sets up another recuring theme of this song, the build-up. At 2:50 we get the begining of the major break and the major build up. It builds up and up and up all the way to 4:00 when we reach the peak and are bombarded with what I call the R2D2 acid-bass (which is just a higher pitched version of the original bassline). It continues with various length mini-build-ups the rest of the way to the end. |
